How to keep images crisp after upload.
Image size questions, answered.
›Did social media image sizes change in 2026?
Profile and feed sizes are stable, but Reels, Shorts and Stories have all standardised on 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Most platforms now down-rank landscape video on mobile feeds.
›What's the safest universal size for a single post?
1080 × 1350 (4:5 portrait). It works on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest with minimal cropping.
›What format should I export images in?
PNG for graphics with text and logos. JPG for photos at 80–90% quality. WebP if your CMS supports it — smaller and sharper.
›Why does my image look blurry after upload?
Most platforms compress on upload. Export at 2x intended display size, sRGB color profile, and keep file size under 8 MB. Avoid re-uploading screenshots.
›Do I need different sizes for ads?
Yes. Meta ads do best at 1080 × 1080 or 1080 × 1350. Reels ads at 1080 × 1920. YouTube in-stream at 1280 × 720. Always design ad creatives separately from organic posts.
